Well-done Futures!


Futures have been awarded the Bronze Eco Schools award!
Schools work towards gaining one of three awards – Bronze, Silver and the prestigious Green Flag award, which symbolises excellence in the field of environmental activity.

Eco-Committee

We are recruiting more students to take part in the Eco-Committee group from all years.

The topics we are covering are – Water, Biodiversity, Energy, Global Perspective, Healthy Living, Litter, School Grounds, Transport and Waste.

At the moment we are covering Transport starting with the Bikeability lessons and learning to fix your bike, yet we are also planning for futures events such as the Wear Something Green day & Bike to school day.

14th July Bike to School Day


At Futures Community College, we encourage students to bicycle to school and promote bicycle safety.

On the 14th July, Every Year 7 student who cycles to school will receive a prize and a fruit smoothie before Morning Registration!

For Period 5, we will have a guest appearance from a Bicycle stunt man, who will perform a few stunts as well as reminding us the importance of being safe.

Prizes will go on throughout the day with the Super Secret Cycling Sleuth,
Which will also continue for a couple of weeks after.

Wear Something Green Day


16th July - Wear Something Green Day.
The Eco Committee have been busily thinking of ways of supporting our Stopping Climate Change charities.

Other than Wearing something green for the day, we plan to –
Have various stalls during the lunch hour – Face painting, Fair-trade chocolate and a Meerkat adoption Raffle.

Animal Workshops and DWARF will be onsite. They will be offering a unique in-school service providing interaction with a variety of exotic and domestic animals together with organised activity workshops linked to the National Curriculum. www.animalworkshops.co.uk
