The Sustrans Bike It project enables thousands of children to cycle to school every day. It helps schools highlight cycling in their travel plans, supports cycling champions and proves that cycling is a popular choice amongst children and parents.
In January 2010 Futures became a Sustrans Bike It School, with the help of Graham pearl we have already taken part in the Virtual Bike Race across London and two Dr Bike Days.
Virtual Bike Race
Year 7 students have been cycling in to school to take part in the Virtual Bike Race to celebrate 15 years of the National Cycle Network. Over 550 schools (thousands of children) having been taking part in the 8,408km race around the UK.
Well-done to 7GLA, who was leading each week with the most students cycling in each day.
Dr Bike
Both days was held in the Year 7 block, the year 7 students were asked to bring in their bikes to be fixed and checked. Some bikes required adjustments and tightening while others had safety critical components fitted.
